What Can Dermal Fillers Do for You?
Dermal fillers are excellent for achieving a variety of results, including:
- Plumping and shaping thin lips
- Adding volume to the cheekbones or temples
- Enhancing the chin
- Smoothing nasolabial folds and lip lines
- Reducing the appearance of dark circles under the eyes
Strategic use of fillers can help to create more youthful, harmonious facial features. Dr. Greene and our estheticians have extensive experience creating beautiful, natural results. We aim to enhance your natural features, not make you over into someone else.
We take particular care not to “overfill” any targeted area, and we work very closely with you to make sure you are happy with your results.
Types of Dermal Fillers We Offer
We offer many different types of fillers in order to target specific areas in the best way possible. Not all fillers are the same, so we take care to choose the ones that are best suited for your desired results. A softer, more malleable filler will be better for delicate, precise work such as filling under eye circles, while a firmer filler will be better for lifting the cheeks or sharpening the chin.
Dermal fillers that we offer include:
- Belotero Balance
Each of these has their own benefits, and we will be happy to discuss which ones are best for you during your consultation.
What Is a Dermal Filler Procedure Like?
Dermal filler injections are not painful. You may experience some minor discomfort, but most patients find the procedure very tolerable. Depending on how many areas you are having treated, a dermal filler treatment can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.
You may experience some minor side effects following treatment, such as:
These do not last long, though. Typically, any side effects clear up within a day or two. Lip injections may result in a longer period of swelling, but you can manage it with ice and keeping your head elevated. Any noticeable bruising can be covered with makeup.
Combining Dermal Fillers with Other Cosmetic Treatments
Dermal fillers can be combined with other treatments for a “liquid facelift” that turns the clock back on your appearance with no need for incisions or anesthesia. Popular procedures that patients like to combine with fillers include:
- BOTOX™ to smooth dynamic wrinkles in the upper face
- Laser skin resurfacing to treat discoloration, persistent redness, rough skin texture, or acne scarring
- Non-surgical skin tightening to reverse the beginning signs of skin laxity
We’ll discuss your concerns in detail during your consultation, and come up with the best treatment plan to reach your goals.

There’s a common myth that people with darker skin aren’t susceptible to skin cancer, but that falsehood puts many people at risk. A study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 63 percent of black Americans reported never using sunscreen.
While it’s true that black-and-brown-skinned people are at a lower risk for skin cancers associated with ultraviolet radiation, they’re not invulnerable. In fact, certain forms of skin cancer are more common in that demographic. Skin cancers in Asian, black, and Latino people are also more likely to be diagnosed at a later stage, and consequently have a higher mortality rate. More »Next Page »
Spider veins are small, wispy veins that have become visible as red or purple discoloration. They look similar to spindly spider legs, hence the name. They are quite visible on the body and are usually found in the legs. They don’t bulge out from the skin like varicose veins, but many people want to lessen their appearance.
Risk factors for spider veins include obesity, high blood pressure, pregnancy, and family history. Spider veins do not typically cause serious health issues, but most people feel more confident after the spider veins are gone. More »

Maybe your friend just got BOTOX® Cosmetic, or perhaps you recently read about dermal fillers in your favorite magazine. Whatever the case, you’ve heard the hype and are now wondering how injectables and dermal fillers can benefit your skin. At Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle, we offer several non-surgical options to reduce the signs of aging, improve your skin tone and contour your face for a glowing, more youthful look.
An effective at-home skincare routine should include a cleanser, toner and moisturizer, along with an SPF 30 or higher sunscreen. But no matter how good your daily skincare routine is, these products don’t have the power to improve your skin’s youthful appearance like an in-office facial at Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle can.
Ask the Expert: Can You Get Skin Cancer “Where the Sun Doesn’t Shine?” Should You Remove All Clothing for a Skin Exam?Yes, and yes again! While skin cancers are less commonly diagnosed in areas that are normally shielded from the sun, they can and do develop there. There are a number of factors that play a role in the development of skin cancer — including genetics and environmental pollution — that have nothing to do with the sun’s rays. One of the reasons why a complete skin exam is so valuable is that your dermatologist will be able to notice changes that may be normally hidden under clothing. This way, any suspected skin cancers can be diagnosed and treated promptly. Don’t worry, your doctor will respect your modesty with an exam gown and/or cloth draping. Next Page »
