Experienced dermatologist Dr. Steven Greene is proud to offer his patients the option of platelet-rich plasma injections. These injections have several applications, including:
- Hair restoration. The growth factors contained in PRP injections communicate with the stem cells surrounding the hair follicles. The growth factors energize stem cell activity, which promotes thicker, fuller hair when combined with hair transplants. The PRP injections are made directly into areas of the scalp, administered by Dr. Greene. It not only aids hair transplants, but also improves hair growth in the surrounding areas.
- Volume loss. PRP can be used as an organic alternative to other types of dermal fillers. PRP injections smooth wrinkles in various areas of the face, including frown lines between the eyebrows, and parentheses lines around the mouth and nose. It does so by encouraging new collagen production in the area.
- Scars. Injections of PRP into scar tissue can lead to new collagen and blood vessel penetration, ultimately reducing the appearance of acne scars and other types of scarring.
- Along with microneedling and laser resurfacing.PRP injections can be used to complement the results of treatments like microneedling and laser resurfacing. The growth factors in PRP may enhance the results of the non-invasive treatments.
Dr. Greene can help you decide if a platelet-rich plasma treatment is right for you.
How Does It Work?
A small amount of blood is drawn from your body. The vial of blood is placed in a centrifuge, where it is spun around at a rapid speed to separate the plasma from the rest of the blood. The plasma can then be used in the treatments described above. This process offers the opportunity for Dr. Greene to enhance some of the services offered at our practice.
