Feel healthy and beautiful in your own skin
Natural Injectable and Filler Treatments
Our goal is to provide each of our patients with the beautiful, younger outcomes they are wanting from their injectable treatment while still maintaining the natural look that makes him or her unique. As a master injector, Dr. Greene has undergone the additional training to provide his patients with natural–never overdone–results.
At the Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle, we take our injectable treatments one step further to ensure you always receive the best possible treatment. Using the AccuVein® vein visualizer, we are able to pinpoint injection sites and minimize discomfort by avoiding the nearby veins. This also helps to dramatically minimize bruising, allowing you to get back to your normal routine looking younger, fresher, and like your best, confident self.
A Breakthrough in Filler Treatments
There is no question that the use of fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse has revolutionized cosmetic dermatology. Women and men have embraced dermal fillers as an effective treatment for restoring volume, smoothing skin, and improving facial contours. However, the downside to this treatment has always been the bruising, swelling, and discomfort caused by the injections.
Our board-certified dermatologist, Steven Greene MD, has perfected the use of microcannulas for facial sculpting with dermal fillers. These ultra-thin, flexible microcannulas do not have a sharp tip, so they slide beneath the skin without pain or trauma to the tissues. Any filler can be gently eased under the skin with greater precision and comfort than ever before.
With this remarkable technique, more filler can be placed through fewer injection sites, which means improved comfort and decreased bruising and swelling. Ultimately, patients are able to return to routine activities and enjoy their results almost immediately. For longer-lasting results, your doctor may combine your filler treatment with neuromodulators such as Botox or Dysport.
Who is an ideal candidate for fillers in Seattle?
The best candidates for dermal fillers are healthy adults who do not smoke. That said, people who do smoke can still get dermal filler treatment; their results just may not last as long. This is difficult to predict because everyone’s skin is different and the body will metabolize fillers in its own time. Generally, the effects of treatment can last a year or longer. Additionally, the happiest patients are adults who have realistic expectations regarding the rewarding outcome of their chosen injectable.
Are injectables and fillers safe?
Yes. All of the injectable products that are used today, neuromodulators and dermal fillers, have been rigorously studied for safety and efficacy. Clinical trials are a requirement for FDA approval, and all products currently in use have completed the necessary vetting process to gain adequate clearance for cosmetic use. The risks of injectable treatments are very low, limited to temporary side effects. Patients are also informed regarding the minor risks for more severe complications, such as allergic reactions.
How to choose the right injectable for me?
The key to choosing the right product or products for injectable treatment is to consider which will deliver the best results. Information from your provider can help you determine your optimal treatment plan. This information is based on a discussion of your cosmetic concerns and an evaluation of your skin and underlying tissue, including the loss of volume and elasticity. During your consultation, converse with your provider about your most pressing cosmetic concerns and goals so they can offer the most appropriate options to reach your expected results.
Can you combine injectable treatments?
Yes. Your qualified practitioner can discuss whether a combination of injectables is best for your needs. It is common to combine neuromodulators, which work by relaxing muscles, with dermal filler, which smooth lines and improve contours by restoring optimal volume to the skin. In addition to discussing which products may be ideal for you, your provider can also discuss with you how much of each product they recommend and where each will be applied to achieve the desired outcome.
What results can I expect from injectable treatments?
One of the biggest advantages of getting injectable treatment is that the results appear right away. If you choose to receive dermal filler treatment, your results will be immediately noticeable. If you choose a neuromodulator like Botox, you can expect your results to build over a period of five to seven days. Once the full effect of an injectable has been achieved, results can last from a few months to two years or longer, depending on the product you have selected and the speed at which your body metabolizes the filler.
Some injectable treatments are outside of the box to some extent. Examples include Sculptra and Kybella. These injectables are designed for very specific use. For instance, Kybella is an injectable treatment to reduce a double-chin. Results occur over a series of treatments and can take several weeks to reach full effect. Once results have been achieved, though, they can last indefinitely. This is because Kybella works by destroying fat cells, which results in the body flushing them.
How long do fillers last?
Fillers generally last from nine months to two years. The longevity can vary based on the product selected and on the body’s natural breakdown of the product over time. Softer, thinner fillers like those that are used for lip augmentation tend to break down at a faster rate than more viscous fillers like Voluma, used for cheek augmentation. During your consultation, your provider can discuss the expected longevity of your filler based on your personal treatment plan.
How often will I require injectables?
You may repeat an injectable treatment like Botox as often as every three months. Generally, people get Botox touch-ups at intervals of three to six months, depending on how strongly their lines and creases return. Dermal filler injectables may be touched-up once or twice a year or only every few years. The choice is largely up to you.
