Sofwave™ Skin Rejuvenation
Getting older is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look fantastic at every stage of life. Loss of skin elasticity, fine lines, and wrinkles are common signs of aging that many Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle patients want to minimize. Fortunately, there are more effective treatments than ever before.
The cutting-edge Sofwave™ device is one of the most exciting advancements in nonsurgical skin tightening. If you’re looking for a non-invasive way to lift and smooth your skin, read on to learn more or call our Seattle, Washington practice at 206-402-4797 to book your consultation.
What Is Sofwave?
Sofwave is an FDA-approved skin rejuvenation device designed to lift the eyebrows, firm the neck, tighten loose skin under the chin, and reduce facial lines and wrinkles. The device can also be used off-label to restore skin elasticity around the knees or upper arms.
How Does Sofwave Work?
Sofwave is an in-office treatment that uses fractional ultrasound waves to heat below the surface of your skin. This high-intensity energy stimulates hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin production. These essential structural proteins strengthen your skin and contribute to elasticity and hydration.
Collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin levels naturally decrease as we age, so Sofwave provides a much-needed boost. After a Sofwave treatment, your skin will gradually remodel, revealing a smoother, firmer complexion, along with a reduction in pore size.
Who Can Benefit From Sofwave?
Sofwave is safe for all skin tones and can benefit most patients with skin laxity. However, those with mild to moderate loss of elasticity will see more dramatic results than those with advanced signs of aging. Sofwave can be used in patients in their 20s or 30s as a “prejuvenation” treatment to prevent signs of aging. Patients in their 40s and 50s with a loss of elasticity around the eyes or neck will likely see the most noticeable improvements.
That said, patients in their 60s and beyond can also benefit. If you have more advanced signs of aging, alternating Sofwave with other anti-aging treatments like laser skin resurfacing or facial fillers will provide even more skin-tightening benefits.
What’s The Difference Between Sofwave and Ultherapy?
Sofwave and Ultherapy are both skin-tightening treatments that use ultrasound energy to boost collagen production, but there are some key differences. Sofwave uniformly heats the dermis at 1.5 mm, while Ultherapy can target depths of 1.5 mm, 3 mm, and 4.5 mm. Patients who have difficulty tolerating deeper Ultherapy treatments often find Sofwave more comfortable. Additionally, Sofwave has a built-in cooling mechanism to protect the surface of your skin.
Thanks to the device’s proprietary parallel beams, you may experience less swelling or redness with Sofwave. Treatments are also typically quicker than Ultherapy since the Sofwave device can target larger areas. Sofwave appointments usually take 30 to 60 minutes instead of 30 to 90 minutes with Ultherapy.
When Will I See Sofwave Results?
Sofwave results build gradually since your body needs time to produce more collagen. Patients typically see improvements starting at four to six weeks, with the full benefits visible at three to six months. After that, maintenance treatments are recommended about once a year.
